The Loving Care Agency was started 11 years ago when I decided to fill a gap in the market for parents who wanted some time away from their children, but needed the peace of mind in knowing that the person in whose care the children were left was someone responsible and caring.
Having qualified with an H.D.E. (4 year course) Pre-Primary teacher's diploma, having taught for 13 years and being a mother of four children (15 years, 10 years, 8 years and 2 months at present), I felt that I was supremely qualified to be able to choose the kind of people who would be suitable (and also have the necessary abilities) to take on the responsibility of child care for the parents in absentia.
The ages of the ladies who are part of our babysitting organization range from 19 years up to ladies in their 60's. They all have experience in child care, some have completed courses, others have done oodles of babysitting - but the one thing they all have in common is that they love children. They have their own transport, are honest, reliable and trustworthy, with references available and, what I believe is the most important factor - I am prepared to leave my four children with anyone who works with me!!!
The ladies who work with me are thoroughly screened, reliable and responsible. They range in age from students up to grandmothers, all very pleasant, friendly and child-loving people. Many of them have childcare training & are competent in First Aid.
I have also moved into the au pair field, placing girls locally in the Cape Town area. All candidates are screened before being sent out to families for interviews. I only take on people who I feel I would be happy to have working for my family.
There are various babysitting rates, depending on area where client resides (minimum 3 hours):
• Cape Town & Southern Suburbs – R55 / hour
• Northern Suburbs – R50 / hour
Please note : If sitters close by are not available then those who are the next closest are approached to cover the sit.
Au pair costs are related to the number of hours the au pair works on a daily basis:
• Half day M – F (± 4 hours per day): R2 500 – R4 000 per month.
• Full day M – F (hours as needed): R3 500 – R8 000 per month.
